PERMAGOV

PERMAGOV - Improving the PERformance of MArine GOVernance is a Horizon Europe project whose main objective is to support implementation of EU Green Deal goals. Utilizing a Multi-Layered Collaborative Marine Governance strategy, that builds on collaboration with stakeholders, PERMAGOV seeks to improve performance of marine governance and creating public awareness. PERMAGOV focuses these efforts on specific cases within four main topics: Marine Transport, Marine Plastics, Marine Energy and Marine Life. Funded by: HORIZON-AG – Horizon Action Grant Budget-Based Period: November 2022 – November 2026

EmpowerUs

EmpowerUs (Socio-economic Empowerment of coastal communities as users of the sea to ensure sustainable coastal development) aims to enable coastal communities to act for change and transition toward sustainable and inclusive coastal developments. Using six Transition Coastal Labs (TCL’s) across all EU coastal regions, EmpowerUs addresses the challenges in costal community development, and will be based on a multi-actor and interdisciplinary approach. Funded by: HORIZON-AG – Horizon Action Grant Budget-Based Period: October 2022 – September 2025.

Ecotip

Ecotip (Ecological Tipping Cascades in the Artic Seas Ecotip) is a flagship Horizon 2020 research project focusing on understanding and predicting changes in Arctic marine biodiversity and implications for two vitally important marine ecosystem services: fisheries production, which is the economic lifeblood of many Arctic communities, and carbon sequestration, which has important feedbacks to the global climate. Funded by: The European Union's Horizon 2020 Period: June 2020 – June 2024

AEGIS

The objective of AEGIS (Advanced Efficient and Green Intermodal Systems) is to develop a new waterborne transport system for Europe. AEGIS intends to use new innovations from the area of connected and automated transport, including smaller and more flexible vessel types, automated cargo handling, autonomous ships, new cargo units and new digital technologies to regain the position that waterborne traditionally had in cargo transport. AAU leads the governance and policy work package to understand the enabling and constraining conditions to develop waterborne transport systems. SAB

SAB (Sisters in the Arctic Blue) expands collaborations among junior and senior social science researchers interested in gender research within marine and coastal sectors. It aims to identify gaps in the research area in collaboration across Nordic countries and promote further collaboration on gender research in blue sectors. Period: October 2021 - September 2022.

Climefish

Climefish Constraints and trade-offs in the climate impact of fisheries) aims for developing new methods in assessing climate impacts of fisheries, and identifying trade-offs between fisheries practices. This in order to promote sustainable harvesting and driving fisheries in a climate-friendly way. It seeks to understand green transition in relation to fisheries and fisheries technologies, so that it may better inform stakeholders and policymakers in decision-making processes. Funded by: Denmark’s Independent Research Fund | Technology and Production Period: September 2022 - August 2025.

Networks

Fisheries Commission

In 2022 Associate Professor Troels Jacob Hegland was appointed to be part of the Fisheries Commission by the Minister for Food, Agriculture and Fisheries Rasmus Prehn. In collaboration with the other members, he will make recommendations on how fisheries can be developed into a strong and sustainable and economically robust industry that can contribute to Denmark's and the EU's economy, employment in Denmark's fisheries-dependent areas, climate goals, marine strategy and ecosystem-based marine plan.

AAU ARCTIC

AAU Arctic connects Arctic researchers from all disciplines at AAU and creates partnership with other Arctic institutions and partners. By hosting research seminars and networking events, we connect stakeholders and researchers, foster local and international collaborations and contribute to the production of Arctic knowledge that matters.

Having a strong profile and interest in Arctic coastal societies, CBG has been closely involved in the coordination of AAU Arctic since its very beginning in 2015. As platform coordinator Rikke Becker Jacobsen has been part of the daily management and strategic development of AAU Arctic since 2021.
