The Department of Planning works with planning, technology and society and focuses on creating a more sustainable future. The institute is interdisciplinary in technical, natural and social science disciplines and presents a unique combination of social and technological understanding where digital and technical solutions merge with the needs of the society.
Our research and teaching focusses on sustainability including sustainable transition, design, circular economy, consumption and production, environmental assessment, technological assessment, energy planning, marine management, surveying, land use and problem based learning.
We provide research-based teaching in a number of educations. Among these, we have Urban, energy and environmental planning, Techno-Anthropology, Sustainable design and Surveying.
In this way our research creates the foundation for educating the young people of tomorrow, and as part of Aalborg University, the institute relies on a socially engaging and problem based learning approach that helps ensure, we create educations aimed at the job market and a society with increasing focus on technology, digitisation, sustainability and partnerships for a sustainable transition.
