Welcome to MakerSpace for Sustainability
MakerSpace for Sustainability is a a creative, hands-on workshop at the Department of Sustainability and Planning, where ideas are transformed into physical models, prototypes, and tangible solutions.
MakerSpace for Sustainability is an open and experimental learning environment for both students and researchers working with design, experimentation, sustainability, and innovation. Here, you can develop everything from simple scale-models and mock-ups to functional prototypes and full-scale constructions.
We have a wide range of materials, including wood, cardboard and paper, plastics, metal, foam, and textiles, and we combine traditional craftsmanship with digital fabrication. Facilities include modelling and creative areas as well as specialized workshops for wood, metal, and plastic work, along with access to 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC milling, and vacuum forming.
MakerSpace for Sustainability is staffed by trained student assistants who ensure a safe working environment and are happy to provide guidance on materials, tools, techniques, and production methods. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced maker, support and sparring are always available.
Sustainability lies at the core of MakerSpace for Sustainability. We actively encourage reuse of materials, resource-conscious design choices, and circular thinking. A shared scrap and materials section is available for reuse, and users are encouraged to return leftover materials after completing their projects so others can benefit.
