RESEARCH GROUP
Sustainability, Innovation & Policy

We are an interdisciplinary research group focused on research that supports a sustainable transition of our society.
The research in SIP research group is centred around the research areas: Sustainability, Innovation and Policy. We have worked with sustainability research for decades. Through the years, we have had a strong focus on developing research-based knowledge and methods that can support different stakeholders' opportunities to create sustainable development. Various types of innovation are important in the transition towards sustainability, and different types of processes are both studied and promoted by researchers in our group. We work with innovation on micro level (Ecodesign, business models), meso level (circular flows, collaboration, networks and partnerships) and macro level (environmental policy, regulations, standardizations, eco-labelling and public procurement). We are studying, and subsequently influencing, the policy and governance processes and outcomes related to sustainability and innovation. We have a strong outset in action-oriented research, and we strive through our research projects to create a real change in society.
EDUCATION
STUDY RELATED ACTIVITIES
A cornerstone of our activities is to provide research-based teaching. Primarily for the bachelor program City, Energy and Environment and for the masters programs Sustainable Cities, Environmental Management & Sustainability Science, and Cities & Sustainability.
To us, teaching is a mutual gain; in the interaction with the students we illuminate new perspectives and angles. In our teaching, we collaborate with companies and other external partners who further contribute by bringing the research into a real relevant context for the students.

Cooperation
We have close cooperation with other research groups e.g. the Sustainable Energy Planning research group and the Danish Center for Environmental Assessment (DCEA) in the Department focussing on climate communities in the circular economy. Pollution prevention, systems innovation and sustainable consumption and production are at the heart of this research.
