Peter-Paul Verbeek is professor of philosophy of technology at the Department of Philosophy and co-director of the DesignLab at the University of Twente, e Netherlands. He is also honorary adjunct professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Science of Aalborg University, Denmark. Verbeek is a member of UNESCO – COMEST (Committee on the Ethics of Science and Technology), of the Dutch Concil for the Humanities, of the Supervisory Board of TNO (Dutch Organiza- tion for applied scienti c research), of the board of the Rathenau Institute, of the steering committee Responsible Innovation (NWO – Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research), and of the Center for Ethics and Health (Ministry of Health). He is a member of the editorial board of SATS. Journal for Northern Philosophy and of the scienti c advisory board of Philosophy & Technology. From 2010 until 2012 he held the Socrates chair at Del University of Techno- logy. Verbeek is member of the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innova- tion and of the Royal Holland Society of Sciences. Between 2013 and 2015 he was President of the Society for Philosophy and Technology; between 2011 and 2013 he was chairman of ‘ e Young Academy’, an independent division of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2012, he received the Borghgraef Prize (KU Leuven) in biomedical ethics. In 2016, he was awarded the World Technology Award in Ethics.
